MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Slovenian businessmen are showing a big interest in the Belarusian market, Director General for Economic Diplomacy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Stanislav Rascan stated following the fourth meeting of the Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and sci-tech cooperation in Ljubljana on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
Stanislav Rascan praised the work of the commission and the results of the Belarusian-Slovenian business forum that preceded the meeting. Stanislav Rascan expressed confidence that these events would help strengthen the present relations between Belarus and Slovenia and increase the bilateral trade. Besides, he hopes for new Belarusian-Slovenian joint companies.
Stanislav Rascan named engineering, automotive industry, chemical industry, food industry and tourism among promising cooperation areas for Slovenia and Belarus.
“The potential of the Belarusian market still remains untapped for Slovenian businessmen. We take joint efforts for Belarus and Slovenia to intensify mutually beneficial cooperation,” the Slovenian official said.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yelena Kupchina presided at the plenary session of the Belarusian-Slovenian intergovernmental commission on trade, economic and sci-tech cooperation on Belarus’ behalf. Stanislav Rascan chaired the Slovenian part of the commission. The commission considered the status and prospects for the Belarusian-Slovenian trade and economic cooperation, including collaboration in the industry, transport, agriculture and tourism, and further improvement of the legal framework. The parties coordinated proposals to expand the scale of cooperation in the economic area and implementation of new joint projects.
While in Slovenia, Yelena Kupchina held talks with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia and met with Slovenian businessmen. The parties discussed joint investment projects, the recuperation program for Belarusian children in Slovenia, cultural cooperation and collaboration between Belarus and the EU.
