Raineri: French companies should be more aggressive in exploring the Belarusian market

PARIS, 6 June (BelTA) – French companies should be more aggressive in tapping into the Belarusian market, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Belarus Michel Raineri told BelTA as he took part in the presentation of Belarus’ economy and investment potential in Paris on 6 June.

The diplomat stressed the importance of the event which has been organized by the Economy Ministry, the Foreign Ministry, the Embassy of Belarus in France, the National Investment and Privatization Agency of Belarus, and the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF).

The start to cooperation with MEDEF was given in 2009 when a big delegation of this association came to Minsk to discuss promising cooperation. The Belarusian delegation led by First Vice Premier Vladimir Semashko paid a return visit to Paris later.

“The meeting is to promote implementation of the agreements and outline new cooperation prospects. It is of especial importance amid new conditions of integration processes in which Belarus is taking part. These are new conditions the French side still knows very little about. This event is to get French businessmen familiar with the changes that create more favorable conditions for cooperation with Belarus and advancement of products to the Belarusian market. Today Belarus is a good platform to sell goods in the Customs Union. It is important that French businessmen see these advantages of Belarus,” the French diplomat stressed.

Partaking in the meeting is Finance Minister Andrei Kharkovets and Economy Minister Nikolai Snopkov who are on a working visit to France on 5-8 June. Attending the event is also Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko.
