Putin: The creation of the Union State was a decisive event for Belarusians and Russians

MOSCOW, 2 April (BelTA) - The creation of the Union State was a crucial event for Belarusians and Russians, reads the message of greetings sent by Russian President Vladimir Putin to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko on the occasion of the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Kremlin.

Belarus and Russia chose the way of tight integration in order to jointly ensure stability and security of the two states, well-being and prosperity of their citizens, the message reads.

Vladimir Putin is pleased with the fact that the results of the Union State development are becoming increasingly tangible, trade and economic ties are expanding and a coordinated foreign and defense policy is pursued. The Russian President cited the successful development of interregional ties and noted that the experience of the Union State had helped launch the Eurasian Economic Union project. Work to establish the Union is about to be completed.

The Russian head of state expressed confidence that the further invigoration of Belarusian-Russian cooperation and the acceleration of mutually beneficial integration processes are in keeping with the fundamental interests of the brotherly peoples of Belarus and Russia.
