Putin: Multi-faceted cooperation in the CIS remains priority for Russia

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – The development of multi-faceted cooperation remains a priority for Russia, President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in Minsk on 10 October, BelTA has learned.

“Multi-faceted cooperation in the CIS has always been a priority for Russia. Cooperation unites our closest partners and has long proved to be a key instrument in the strengthening of good-neighborly mutually-beneficial relations between the former Soviet Union countries,” Vladimir Putin said.

The President of Russia noted that the organization expands the range of its activities every year. Today the joint work in the CIS covers every significant area of interstate communication. Vladimir Putin pointed to the importance of developing trade and economic cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States and joint fight against crime, including distribution of drugs.

“Our common goal is to preserve and augment the CIS creative potential, to ensure that every CIS participant should benefit from this multilateral cooperation,” the Russian leader said.
