MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – The talks involving the presidents of the Customs Union member states and Ukraine and representatives of the European Union offer a great opportunity to discuss the consequences of the Ukraine-EU association agreement and Ukraine’s subsequent cooperation with the Eurasian ‘troika”, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the meeting of the presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine and high representatives of the European Union on 26 August, BelTA has learned.
“Russia respects and will respect a sovereign choice of any nation regarding its domestic policy and participation in military, economic and other alliances. We hope this will not happen at the expense of other participants of international relations and not at our expense,” the Russian leader said.
Vladimir Putin emphasized that Ukraine is closely integrated into the CIS economic space. In fact, together with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan it is an integral part of the world’s biggest economic complex. “Companies of our countries have developed close ties in all key industries,” he added.
