ASTANA, 29 May (BelTA) - By signing the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty we will create a powerful center of economic growth, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Astana on 29 May, BelTA has learned.
The Russian leader described the forthcoming signing of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty as a milestone event. "This document raises the integration between our countries onto a new level. The sovereignty of the states will be fully preserved while the economic cooperation will be closer, more cohesive,” said the Russian President.
“Today we are creating a powerful center of economic growth. A large regional market represents more than 170 million people. Our union has vast reserves of natural resources, including energy reserves,” Vladimir Putin said.
The Russian President also drew attention to the fact that the three countries have a well-developed industry, powerful human, intellectual and cultural potential, advantageous geographical position. "All this is the key to the competitiveness of our union, its dynamic development in a rapidly changing and complex world," said the Russian leader.
Vladimir Putin also stressed that the EEU will operate on the universal and transparent principles, understandable to everyone, including the WTO requirements and principles.
