MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – The Year of Hospitality will focus attention to Belarus’ national traditions, Belarus’ permanent plenipotentiary to the CIS bodies Vasily Pugachev told BelTA.
“The tasks set for the Year of Hospitality are rather encouraging and optimistic,” Vasily Pugachev said.
Belarus declared 2014 the Year of Hospitality with a view to promoting tourism and creating modern tourist infrastructure using Belarus’ favorable geographic position. The Year of Hospitality aims to celebrate the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage and to strengthen patriotic feelings in Belarusians.
“The fact chimes in with the thesis about improving relations with the neighboring states that was one of the cornerstones of the concept of Belarus’ presidency in the CIS in 2013. In fact, it is a manifestation of the aspirations of Belarusians to live in peace with other countries,” Vasily Pugachev said.
The Year of Hospitality will offer a great opportunity for government bodies, companies and individuals to tap into the untapped potential of Belarus’ tourism industry. Belarus is gearing up for the 70th anniversary of its liberation from the Nazi invaders and is getting ready to host the ice hockey world championship.
