MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – Last year Belarus’ foreign policy was aimed at ensuring the safety and protection of national interests, and the formation of the favorable preconditions for the further economic development of the country and improving the well-being of citizens, Deputy Foreign Minister Yelena Kupchina said when introducing the foreign policy review 2013 at a press conference.
The review is a brief complex analysis of the key results and the work of the Foreign Minsitry in the main areas of international activities last year, said Yelena Kupchina. "It covers the wide geography of countries and regions with which Belarus cooperates and also a wide range of topics and issues on which the Foreign Ministry was working last year,” said the Deputy Minister. "Traditionally, the priority of the Belarusian diplomatic service is given to the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of its citizens," said Yelena Kupchina. “We conducted a prudent, balanced and multifaceted foreign policy in accordance with the basic principles established by the leadership of the country,” she said.
The review reflects the achievements of the Belarusian foreign policy and the issues faced by the Belarusian diplomatic service in 2013.
According to Yelena Kupchina, the ministry plans to publish this kind of open reviews annually.
