Popov: Kiev shows great respect for Belarusian goods

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Kiev residents demonstrate great respect for Belarusian goods, Chairman of the Kiev City State Administration Alexander Popov said. On 13 September Minsk hosted the meeting between members of the official delegation from Kiev and Minsk Mayor Nikolai Ladutko, representatives of the City Hall services, BelTA has learnt.

Alexander Popov expressed confidence that economic and trade relations between Kiev and Minsk have great prospects. “We have great respect for the goods produced in Belarus, in Minsk, both equipment and food. Foodstuffs enjoy the greatest popularity. The store which sells Belarusian products in Kiev needs no advertising,” he said.

Alexander Popov stressed that the delegation had arrived in Minsk with a proposal to take the cooperation between the two cities onto a higher level – establish twin-town relations. The sides will work out and approve the program of such cooperation and will embark on its implementation, he said.

“We are united by mutually beneficial economic integration. Over 40 Kiev companies cooperate with Minsk organizations. It means that we have a lot of new projects in future. This area is of great importance for us,” Alexander Popov said.

On 13 September Alexander Popov awarded Minsk war veterans that took part in the liberation of Kiev in Minsk City Hall. This year the Ukrainian capital celebrates the 70th anniversary of the liberation from the Nazis.

The Ukrainian delegation comprises heads of several district administrations of the Ukrainian capital as well as the Kiev Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the communal corporation Kievavtodor, the communal association of Kievzelenstroi. The delegation is expected to visit Belkommunmash Management Holding Company, Amkodor, the National Library of Belarus and Minsk Arena.
