Polevoda: Belarusian school of firefighters and rescuers is recognized worldwide

MINSK, 29 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian school of firefighters and rescuers is recognized worldwide, Head of the Institute for Command Engineers (ICE) of the Emergencies Ministry of the Republic of Belarus Ivan Polevoda told media ahead of the General Assembly of the European Fire Service College’s Association (EFSCA) at the ICE on 29 May.

According to Ivan Polevoda, the forum was preceded by hard work, i.e. implementation of innovations in the academic process and improvement of the material and physical basis.

“This forum is an opportunity to find new ideas, discuss promising projects that can help enhance the quality of training of specialists for the Emergencies Ministry and strengthen our position on the market of educational services,” Ivan Polevoda said.

Today a total of 16% of the ICE students are foreign nationals.

In turn, EFSCA President Wim Beckmann noted that the education system of the Institute for Command Engineers of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus is of interest for European colleges since it differs from the education system in Europe. The EFSCA General Assembly, which runs until May 30, is expected to outline the future areas of cooperation, which will bring the two education systems closer, said Wim Beckmann.

A session of the EFSCA General Assembly will be held during the conference of this organization. Both events will be hosted by the ICE of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus, which has brought together representatives from 19 countries, including those from Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Ukraine, France, Czech Republic and Estonia.

The European association of educational institutions that train specialists for emergency services brings together leading specialized educational institutions of Europe. Today the association includes agencies from 30 countries in the European region. The Institute for Command Engineers (ICE) of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus is one of the few educational institutions that represent the country which is not a member of the European Union.

The goal of the association is to improve the quality of the learning process, promote the harmonization and standardization of the educational institutions in the field of health and safety, and facilitate the exchange of experience among the members, and to support the development of new training programs and technologies.

The Institute for Command Engineers (ICE) of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus joined the European Association in 2009. Thanks to the widespread implementation of innovative technologies in the educational environment, it has become one of the candidates to host the EFSCA General Assembly in 2013.
