Opinion: Belarusians, Russians confident in Union State success

MOGILEV, 11 October (BelTA) – Citizens of Belarus and Russia believe in the success of the Union State project, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said at the opening ceremony of the Town of Craftsmen fair in Mogilev on 11 October, BelTA has learned.

Taking part in the 5th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia are representatives of 35 Russian regions, including Bryansk, Far East, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Mikhail Myasnikovich said. “This testifies to the fact that people believe in the Union State project, the success of the Union State Treaty and our Union State relations. It means a lot. It cannot be measured by money or contracts,” the speaker said.

The parliaments of the two countries need to do everything possible to justify the confidence of Russians and Belarusians, Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed.

Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia Valentina Matviyenko thanked Belarus for a wonderful program and hospitality. In her words, it is for the first time that the Forum of Regions in Belarus has welcomed such a big Russian delegation which features more than 100 officials alone. The Town of Craftsmen, according to Valentina Matviyenko, is a great opportunity for Belarusians and Russians to get to know each other’s cultural legacy better. Taking part in the fair are representatives of 16 subjects of the Russian Federation.
