Nazarbayev suggests maintaining high level of Ukraine peace talks

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev deems it necessary to maintain the high level of Ukraine peace talks and to hold the next meeting in Kazakhstan. Nursultan Nazarbayev made this statement at the meeting of the presidents of the Customs Union member states, Ukraine and high representatives of the European Union on 26 August, BelTA has learned.

The Kazakhstan leader emphasized that the time was ripe to conduct the meeting in Minsk. The meeting was preceded by a series of high-level contacts and talks. He spoke highly of the Minsk meeting: “This might become a good ground to restore peace in Ukraine. It is important to cement the progress”.

He believes that the situation in Ukraine has reached a critical point and can cause irreparable damage. The peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis is impossible without mutual compromises, he said. Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized that the international community should help restore peace in Ukraine.
