NEW YORK, 24 September (BelTA) – Belarusian Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich considers the first Belarusian-U.S. investment forum in New York as successful. The PM made this statement as he talked to the media after the visit of the Belarusian delegation to the United States, BelTA has learned.

“The goals we set have been achieved. A whole range of projects has been outlined,” the Premier said.

Mikhail Myasnikovich underlined special uniqueness of the investment forum which drew the attention of both the U.S. businessmen and the relevant government bodies. “It suffice to say that almost every event of the forum have been attended by representatives of the United States Department of State who showed business that it is worth working with Belarus and this work will be build up gradually and multidimensionally,” he noted.

According to the Prime Minister, a part of the companies represented at the forum were aimed at promoting successful implementation of the projects they were working on. Many were interested in development prospects. “We have concentrated overall attention on the need to expand the legal framework. We talked on the need to lift sanctions on a number of Belarusian companies as they leave an impact on ordinary people in labor collectives,” Mikhail Myasnikovich said.

“I am confident that we have the understanding. Of course it will be a policy of small steps as they put it. These steps however will be aimed at improving the trade and economic climate in the first place,” the PM said.
