MINSK, 28 May (BelTA) – The session of the CIS Heads of Government Council that will take place in Minsk on 30 May will become a platform to resolve important issues, including those relating to bilateral cooperation. The opinion was voiced by Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich as he met with Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary, on 28 May, BelTA has learned.
There are very important issues on the agenda of the session that determine the state of affairs at present and outline future cooperation vectors, stressed the Belarusian head of government. “It is also important that many bilateral meetings have been planned, including new agreements. Thus, the summit will also serve as a platform to resolve important issues within the framework of bilateral relations”.
In turn, Sergei Lebedev remarked that there is confidence that the summit will be productive, positive decisions are expected to be made on all the items on the agenda. The decision-making will be fostered by the great preparatory work and efforts of experts.
BelTA reported earlier that 23 draft documents will be discussed at the session of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Minsk on 30 May. The discussion will focus on economic matters. The sides will also talk about financial matters, promotion of cooperation in humanitarian sphere and other things.
According to Sergei Lebedev, the session is expected to gather six prime ministers and four vice premiers. “We are waiting for information about the composition of the Ukrainian delegation. They have confirmed the country will be represented but there is no idea in what capacity,” added the Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee. Sergei Lebedev also told media that the Ukrainian issue will not be discussed during the forthcoming summit.
