Myasnikovich calls for harmonization of legislation governing Belarus-Moldova trade relations

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) - The parliaments of Belarus and Moldova need to work a lot on further harmonization of legislation governing the trade relations between Belarus and Moldova, Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich said in a meeting with Moldova President Nicolae Timofti, BelTA has learned.

The Chairman of the Council of the Republic believes that the current visit of the President of Moldova opens a new page in the relations between the two countries. “It is a landmark event. You have certain arrangements with the EU. Belarus is a member of the Eurasian Economic Union starting from 1 Jan. This requires very careful consideration since this is a tough combination. It is very difficult to get mechanical approximation here. In this respect, the parliaments should be working really a lot on the harmonization of legislation," said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

Mikhail Myasnikovich According to him, there is a need to ensure the conditions to prevent unauthorized flows of goods, and to make sure trade relations between the two countries should evolve for the benefit of the peoples of Belarus and Moldova. The Speaker added that investment issues regarding both the joint Belarusian-Moldovan enterprises in Belarus and vice versa can be considered through the updated cooperation of Moldova with the EU.

"The MPs are creating all the necessary conditions to make sure there are no issues with legislative support. We are now carrying a very great deal of work on the standardization and harmonization of legislation within the EEU. Of course, we are willing to share the approaches that we are working on now with Moldova MPs so that we would not have to do additional harmonization and unification,” said the Chairman of the Council of the Republic.

Nicolae TimoftiMikhail Myasnikovich also noted: "We are very happy with the arrangements that were reached yesterday."

The Speaker also spoke about the life of Belarusian Diaspora in Moldova: "I know how much attention your country pays to the Belarusian Diaspora. We also respect the culture and traditions of the Moldovans who live in Belarus.” He also noted the progress in the field of scientific and technical cooperation, which has a great future. "Whatever we say today about trade is important. This is our life today. But the future belongs to science, innovations. It is the future for our young people," said Mikhail Myasnikovich. He emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of seed selection.
