Myasnikovich: Belarus and India have potential for large-scale investment cooperation

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) - Belarus and India have the potential for large-scale investment cooperation, Belarus Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich said as he met with representatives of India’s Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), BelTA learned.

The company is involved in the project to reconstruct Grodno CHPP-2 and supplies the main equipment for Grodnoenergo. BHEL has also applied for a tender for the supply of equipment for photovoltaic power plants of Belorusneft.

The main theme of today's talks was the implementation of the joint project which is very important in the Belarusian-Indian relations. "This topic is not new. We discussed our cooperation, including the Grodno CHPP-2 reconstruction project in great detail with the Ambassador of India. We made the fundamental political and economic decision that will enable our countries to achieve a truly large-scale cooperation, investment cooperation in the first place,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

As noted by the Belarusian head of government, the parties do not rule out implementing other projects.

The company is an integrated power plant equipment manufacturer and one of the largest engineering and manufacturing companies in India in terms of turnover. BHEL is engaged in the design, engineering, manufacture, construction, testing, commissioning and servicing of a wide range of products and services for the core sectors of the economy.

BHEL has 15 manufacturing divisions, two repair units, four regional offices, eight service centers and 15 regional centers and currently operate at more than 150 project sites across India and abroad.

Most of BHEL manufacturing units and other entities have been accredited to Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2008), Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2004) and Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSAS 18001:2007).
