According to the Prime Minister, about 700 tonnes of merchandise was imported to Belarus from Russia without the corresponding documents in the last seven days. Fish, combined fodder, dairy and meat products were imported without any documents at all, said the Prime Minister. “We cannot be indifferent about what the domestic market gets. The key task of the government is to protect its own population against poor quality products and to protect domestic manufacturers from mala fide competition. That’s exactly what we are doing rather vigorously,” said Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The inflow of third-country merchandise from Russia and Kazakhstan has increased considerably lately — by 30% or about $1.5 billion, stated the Prime Minister. “It means that there are issues at the external border of the Eurasian Economic Union. We regularly draw attention to this fact,” noted the Belarusian head of government.

The Prime Minister stressed that Belarus goes the extra mile to prevent the goods, which are on Russia’s embargo list and are released into free circulation in Belarus, from reaching Russia. In the last seven days Belarus has prevented the export of over 200 tonnes of such products to Russia, including apples, fish and dairy products. “The fact once again confirms that we work honestly,” concluded Mikhail Myasnikovich.
