Maskevich: Belarus works on expanding the export of educational services

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus aims to expand the export of educational services through establishing contacts with foreign universities and strengthening positions on its traditional markets, Education Minister Sergei Maskevich said at the graduation ceremony held for foreign specialists at Belarusian State University on 26 June.

“On these days Belarusian universities say goodbye to nearly 2,000 foreign graduates, nationals of more than 40 countries. They will use the knowledge they got here for the benefit of their countries and their professional advancement,” Sergei Maskevich said. According to the minister, over 40 foreign students graduated with colors. Addressing young specialists, he said: “I am convinced that everyone of you will find a rightful place in life coming into manufacturing, education, medicine, culture, sport, management or business.”

Over 2,000 foreigners receive education at Belarusian State University in 2013. Of them 272 are graduates of 13 departments. The majority of foreign students come from China (179), Turkmenistan (56), Azerbaijan, Vietnam, Russia, other states.

Belarusian State University rector Sergei Ablameiko noted that foreign nationals are attracted by the opportunity of getting quality education in Belarus and learn Russian language. He added that the university keeps expanding the export of educational services.

The graduation ceremony in Belarusian State University was attended by graduates, university workers, representatives of diplomatic missions.
