Makei: Blarus calls for international efforts against terrorism

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Belarus calls for efforts in the international arena to combat terrorism, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said in an interview to the South-African newspaper Business Day. The interview was published on the website of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry on 13 September, BelTA has learned.

The world community faces numerous challenges, for instance terrorism, a problem the countries cannot cope with alone, the minister said.

“We need to unite our efforts against terrorism and for the achievement of concrete results. Belarus has a well-developed industry, and we openly state that we export military hardware and train foreign military. Several weeks ago I visited Bagdad where the terrorism issue is high on the agenda. The possibility of the emergence of the Islamic State in Asia poses a huge danger for the humankind, the international community,” Vladimir Makei noted.

“For this purpose we should unite our efforts. Belarus is ready to provide assistance to the countries which face terrorism threats. We do it in full compliance with the international law,” the minister added.

He stressed that Belarus does not maintain contacts with the countries under international, UN sanctions.
