Makei hails progress in Belarus-Azerbaijan cooperation

MINSK, 6 October (BelTA) – The cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan is increasingly vibrant, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei said as he met with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov on 6 October, BelTA has learned.

“There are virtually no problems, political, trade, economic or humanitarian ones, between our countries. The cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan is increasingly vibrant, however there are issues we need to discuss for the development of these relations,” the Belarusian Foreign Minister said.

Vladimir Makei stressed that Azerbaijan is a very important and strategic partner for Belarus. “It is important that the heads of state maintain very close and sincere relations. These relations have a good influence on the entire spectrum of cooperation between the two countries,” he added.

Elmar Mammadyarov, for his part, said that Belarus and Azerbaijan need to intensify economic cooperation. In his opinion, the sides have all tools for it.

“As for the political relations, there are absolutely no problems. Our interests have always been complementary. Speaking about bilateral cooperation in general, it is worth saying that we move in the right direction. Our countries strengthen their independence, economic potential as it is helps raise the well-being of our nations,” the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan stressed.
