MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – Cooperation between Belarus and Ukraine is meant for a long-term perspective, Belarus’ Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said as he met with businessmen promoting Belarusian products on the Ukrainian market on 6 December, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
Vladimir Makei noted that the bilateral trade was estimated at $7.9 billion in 2012. The two countries are running large-scale projects and expanding ties in science, humanitarian field and other areas.
The Belarusian Foreign Minister came to Ukraine to take part in the 20th meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council. Vladimir Makei held talks with representatives of the business community at the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine. Taking part in the meeting were over 20 company heads, including representatives of MAZ, BelAZ, Gomselmash, Promagroleasing, Belarusian Oil Company, Amkodor, Mogilevliftmash, Atlant, Gomelglass, Babushkina Krynka, Santa Bremor, and Savushkin Product. Over 80% of Belarusian exports to Ukraine is sold via the commodity distribution network.
The participants of the meeting discussed the companies’ operation on the Ukrainian market, ways to boost Belarus’ export and expand the presence of Belarusian products in Ukraine.
During the meeting Vladimir Makei handed over the patent of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Kharkiv to Dmitry Bugas.
