Lukashenko urges parties to conflict in Ukraine to find common ground, to end bloodshed

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - The parties to the conflict in Ukraine should not simply find common ground, but put an end to the bloodshed and implement the agreements reached in Minsk, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said when opening a meeting of the CIS Council of the Heads of States in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

All disputes should be solved only by peaceful means. We should not allow the bloodshed to continue, said the Belarusian leader.

"The situation when we have an armed conflict in the center of Europe is absolutely unacceptable. I hope that everyone present here will share my opinion that the fighting in the South-Eastern part of Ukraine should be stopped as soon as possible,” he said addressing his CIS counterparts. The President of the Republic of Belarus believes that it is important to understand that Ukraine is not just a local hotbed. The armed conflict directly affects the security and undermines the economic development of Ukraine and the entire post-Soviet region.
