MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – The dialogue between Belarus and Myanmar is designed for a long-term perspective, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Commander in Chief of the Myanmar Army Min Aung Hlaing on 4 November, BelTA has learned.
“I was informed about the results of the meetings, talks and visits to Belarusian companies. I like your approach. Our dialogue is meant for a long-term perspective and we should follow this path no matter what,” the Belarusian President said as he welcomed the Myanmar delegation.
The Belarusian head of state emphasized that Myanmar has a strategic location in the region. “This contributes to the country’s economy growth and can also be useful for Belarus, as our country runs joint projects with Myanmar. There are very promising and big markets nearby,” the head of state said.
In his view, if our countries make products together, they will greatly benefit from selling them on other markets.
At present Belarus and Myanmar are working to improve the legal framework of the bilateral cooperation. They signed intergovernmental and inter-agency cooperation agreements in trade, economy, defense, agriculture and education, as well as agreements on visa-free travels for holders of diplomatic and service passports. At present another 11 draft documents are in the pipeline.
