Lukashenko: Belarus will become a key platform in Silk Road project

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – Belarus will become a key platform in the Silk Road project, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said during a meeting with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in Minsk on 10 May, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus supports the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Sea Silk Road of the 21st century concepts put forward by Xi Jinping.

“You once said that the relations between countries depend on how close their peoples are. I am sure that Belarus will become a key platform in these large-scale projects in the Eurasian region and thus will bring our peoples and our countries closer,” the Belarusian leader said.

In his view, this would be facilitated by the new direct air service between Minsk and Beijing.
