MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Switzerland have made a significant contribution to the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, member of the Council of States of the Swiss Federal Assembly Filippo Lombardi said on 20 November answering a question of a BelTA journalist.
“I believe that over the last months we have seen that Switzerland and Belarus are sister countries, as both make efforts to bring some understanding to the dialogue between the conflicting parties in Ukraine,” Filippo Lombardi said.
The MP also noted: “Belarus’ initiative (the talks on the Ukrainian crisis. – BelTA’s note) was very important. This negotiation process in Minsk is important. The roles of the two states here are complementary in terms of building better understanding between the parties to the conflict”.
Besides, Filippo Lombardi reminded the journalists that Switzerland is currently presiding in the OSCE and is trying to take all the possible measures to de-escalate the conflict.
