MINSK, 16 June (BelTA) – Russia and Belarus will share opinions on maximally efficient actions in international organizations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said as he met with Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei on 16 June, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Lavrov stressed that today’s talks in Minsk will focus on the implementation of the agreements of the Presidents of the two countries. “They meet on a regular basis and every meeting ends up with some concrete decisions,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.
“Today we are in a qualitatively new situation. The countries have signed the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty which opens new frameworks for our work to ensure its operation starting from 1 January 2015,” Sergei Lavrov said.
He also noted that a series of celebrations marking the 70th anniversaries is underway, including Belarus’ liberation from the Nazis. “We will assure our contribution in their celebrations,” the Russian minister said.
