MOSCOW, 19 November (BelTA) - The political dialogue between Belarus and Russia has been dynamic, Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov said while opening a joint session of the two countries’ foreign ministries in Moscow on 19 November, BelTA has learnt.
According to Sergei Lavrov, the Presidents of Belarus and Russia have already held five meetings in 2013, while the Prime Ministers met three times. “Belarus is Russia’s closest strategic ally. We cooperate in different formats, including within the framework of the Union State, the Customs Union, the Single Economic Space, the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the CIS and other international organizations,” Sergei Lavrov underlined.
He noted that Russia and Belarus have similar positions on the international arena and insist on the abolishment of unilateral and coercive approaches to international issues.
Sergei Lavrov said that he supports Belarus’ initiative put forward at the BRICS summit to discuss the interaction of this organization with the Eurasian integration project.
