MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) - Minsk is a comfortable venue for talks on Ukraine, Foreign Minister of Russia Sergei Lavrov said following a joint meeting of the Foreign Ministries of Belarus and Russia on 18 November, BelTA has learned.
“I am confident that there is no need to reinvent the wheel. We have the Minsk format, the only format that represents the authorities of Kiev, the south-east as well as representatives of Russia and the OSCE,” Sergei Lavrov said. He stressed that this is a compact format that envisages a direct dialogue between the parties. “That is why we support it. The attempts to destroy the format and present the case as the south-eastest authorities can sit and wait until the adults discuss the matter and tell them what to do will not do any good,” Sergei Lavrov said.
He also stressed that there is no other way as to use the Minsk platform for the regulation of the Ukrainian crisis.
