Korean professor praises Belarus’ expertise in physics

MINSK, 14 August (BelTA) – A famous Korean scientist, Professor of the School of Mechanical Engineering of the Pusan National University, Director of the MEMS Technology Center (Korea) Kim Kyung Chun has praised pilot projects of Belarusian scientists and promised to tell his Korean counterparts about them. Professor Kim Kyung Chun made this statement during a visit to the Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on 14 August, BelTA has learned.

“Today I have visited laboratories of the Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and have seen that Belarusian scientists boast world-class pilot projects in fields like thermal physics, plasma physics and optical diagnostics. When I return to South Korea, I will certainly tell others about these pilot projects. I believe that after these pilot projects are presented, some South Korean companies might want to invest in them and will seek contacts with Belarusian scientists,” Professor Kim Kyung Chun said.

Director of the Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer Oleg Penyazkov informed that the Belarusian research center will cooperate with South Korea across four major areas. “First of all, we have determined the list of promising projects that will be submitted to South Korean companies for subsequent commercialization. We are also considering a possibility of joint participation in international projects. We have agreed to arrange short-term and long-term internships of our specialists in South Korea and Korean scientists in Belarus. We will also collaborate in journal publishing. Today Professor Kim Kyung Chun has been included in the editorial board of our Engineering and Physics Journal. He will send us his articles, which will considerably raise the number of references to our journal. Thus, our works including those of young Belarusian scientists will become known on the highest international level,” Oleg Penyazkov said.

A session of the Scientific Board of the Lykov Institute of Heat and Mass Transfer was held on 14 August. Professor Kim Kyung Chun was granted the title of the honorary member of the board.
