Kondrusiewicz: Belarus’ initiatives on Ukraine peace process bear fruit

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Belarus’ initiatives on the peaceful resolution of the Ukraine crisis have already born fruit, Metropolitan of Minsk and Mogilev, Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz said. The Archbishop is taking part in the Plenary Assembly of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace that started in Vatican on 1 October, BelTA learned from the press service of the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus.

The press service noted that the Metropolitan expressed concern over the situation in Ukraine and emphasized the role of Belarus in the peace process in Ukraine. “Ukraine is Belarus’ southern neighbor. The Catholic Church constantly prays for the peaceful resolution of the conflict. Belarus’ peace initiatives and meetings of the interested parties that took place in Minsk have already given positive results,” Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz said.

The press service informed that the statements of Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz were received with understanding by the participants of the Plenary Assembly.

This year the Plenary Assembly discussed the social teachings of the Catholic Church in the past ten years.
