Kobyakov: Government aims for full employment in 2015

BREST, 28 December (BelTA) – Restoring Belarus to full employment is one of the major tasks set for the Belarusian government in 2015, Belarus’ Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said as he presented newly-appointed Brest Oblast Governor Anatoly Lis to participants of an extraordinary session of the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies on 28 December.

The Premier noted that underemployment at enterprises and organizations remains one of the major issues in the region. In January over 30,000 people had to switch to part-time jobs or were forced to take a leave. This should not happen, Andrei Kobyakov said.

Achievements and failures of the social and economic development of the region were analyzed during the session. New tasks were set.

Presenting Anatoly Lis the Premier underlined that the new governor assumed this position in a very demanding period. “Another five-year social and economic development cycle is drawing to a close. Our common task is to ensure unconditional fulfillment of all the social and economic development targets declared at the Fourth All-Belarus Congress,” he noted.

The new social and economic development program for the next five-year period is being drafted. Brest Oblast that has lost momentum across a number of parameters should pick up speed and restore its leading positions in the country, Andrei Kobyakov emphasized.
