MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) - Malaysia hopes for the support of Belarus during the election of non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia, head of the Malaysia-Belarusian parliamentary friendship group Ronald Kiandee said as he met with Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Makei in Minsk on 19 August, BelTA has learned.
Mr Ronald Kiandee noted the importance of the development of all-round cooperation with Belarus and particularly stressed the role of inter-parliamentary contacts. He said that the Malaysian delegation consisting of five parliamentarians arrived in Belarus to learn more about the country.
According to Mr Ronald Kiandee, during the meetings and talks in the Belarusian capital the parties will identify the new areas for further development of Belarusian-Malaysian ties. On arrival in Malaysia the Malaysian-Belarusian parliamentary friendship group will have a meeting to take stock of the visit to Belarus and new arrangements.
"Our two countries have developed good ties. We have common goals and objectives in the cooperation that we are interested to develop," said Mr Ronald Kiandee.
