Italian Ambassador hails inspiring progress in EaP dialogue with Belarus

Italian Ambassador hails inspiring progress in EaP dialogue with Belarus

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – There is inspiring progress in the negotiations with Belarus in the Eastern Partnership (EaP), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Stefano Bianchi told BelTA on 9 July.

“We have recently registered inspiring progress in the Eastern Partnership talks. We are convinced that this partnership with Belarus will be continued just like with other Eastern European states. We will see concrete results,” the diplomat said.

According to the Ambassador, at the negotiations the sides will agree to simplify the procedure of getting visas by Belarusian and Italian people. “Simplification of the visa regime for the Belarusians and Italians will, first of all, improve economic relations in our countries due to the simplified travels of Italian and Belarusian businessmen. As for other citizens, the abovementioned measures will help promote the cultural dialogue,” Stefano Bianchi believes.

From 1 July to 31 December Italy holds the presidency in the EU Council. The Ambassador emphasized that one of the priorities of the country is to promote European values. “We will maintain dialogue with the civil society. There are also plans to involve Belarus in new projects,” Stefano Bianchi said. In his opinion, Belarus and Italy are interested in regional cooperation.
