ISTANBUL, 4 November (BelTA) - Trade and economic relations between Belarus and Turkey should evolve on the basis of mutual investments, Mr Halim Mete, Vice President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), said during the 13th session of the Belarusian-Turkish Business Council and the business forum in Istanbul, BelTA learned.
“Turkish builders have implemented $679 million worth of projects in Belarus. Turkish investments in the , Belarusian economy, have reached $1 billion. In particular, these have been investments in tourism, telecommunications and construction. However, regardless of this, trade figures do not reflect the potential,” said Mr Halim Mete. He stressed that the world map is changing today. So is the business map. "The center of gravity is shifting to the East, and therefore, Belarusian-Turkish trade and economic relations should develop on the basis of mutual investments," said Mr Halim Mete.
Mr Halim Mete recalled that Turkey was the first country to recognize the independence of Belarus. "The bilateral relations between Turkey and Belarus are based on mutual respect, with the focus on business cooperation. These relationships get stronger from year to year,” he concluded.
