Guryanov: Potential for Belarus-Nicaragua cooperation is rather serious

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – The potential for Belarus-Nicaragua cooperation is rather serious. The statement was made by Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov at the final plenary session of the Belarusian-Nicaraguan commission for trade and economic cooperation, BelTA has learned.

The official noted that Belarus-Nicaragua trade is small for now, but the potential and cooperation opportunities are rather serious. Taking into account the vigorous growth of the Nicaraguan economy, it will be possible to reach neighboring markets via this country.

Alexander Guryanov stressed that the Belarusian side was impressed by the growth of the Nicaraguan economy, because this kind of economic growth is absent in Europe because European countries are facing all kinds of crisis phenomena. “This is why we are seeking new opportunities for work and the region of Latin and Central America is of significant interest for us,” he explained.

The Belarusian Deputy Foreign Minister remarked that for the sake of supporting active contacts Belarus and Nicaragua use diplomatic missions, which are accredited in the closest capitals. “We have reached an agreement that Ambassador of Belarus to Ecuador Igor Poluyan will receive concurrent accreditation to Managua. I hope that he will frequently visit the Nicaraguan capital,” said Alexander Guryanov.

The official also stressed that there is no political disagreement between the countries, therefore, it is necessary to fill Belarus-Nicaragua cooperation with good projects.
