Guryanov: Belarus eager to be active participant of EXPO 2017 in Astana

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – Belarus has confirmed its participation in EXPO 2017 in Astana, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Alexander Guryanov told reporters at a meeting with First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Rapil Zhosybayev, BelTA has learned.

“On 11 December Kazakhstan’s delegation handed over an original official invitation from the President of Kazakhstan addressed to the President of Belarus to participate in EXPO 2017. Taking the opportunity we would like to confirm our readiness and desire to become active participants of the exhibition,” he said.

At the meeting representatives of the Kazakhstani delegation showed the first presentation of EXPO 2017 where they told those present at the meeting about their country, terms and conditions of participation in the exhibition in Kazakhstan.

“We are grateful to the Belarusian side for the support and huge interest in our exhibition which will be dedicated to the energy of the future. During the visit we will hold a number of meetings with Belarusian businessmen, will visit the National Academy of Sciences. We are convinced that Belarus will have a good presentation at EXPO 2017,” Rapil Zhosybayev, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan and Commissioner of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO 2017, said.

On 11 December Kazakhstan’s delegation met with Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei to discuss participation in World Expo 2017 and bilateral cooperation. Apart from that, the Belarusian union of tourism associations and the Kazakhstani company Astana Expo 2017 signed a memorandum on cooperation in tourism.

EXPO 2017, which will be dedicated to alternative and renewable energy, will take place in Astana in 2017. The forum is expected to bring together representatives of over 140 countries.
