MINSK, 3 October (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to keep working to promote the peace process in Ukraine in any possible format, including by providing a venue for talks, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Viktor Guminsky said at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's 2014 Autumn Meeting in Geneva on 3 October. Viktor Guminsky took part in an opening-day parliamentary debate on the crisis in Ukraine, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
“The Ukraine crisis became a serious challenge for the entire system of pan-European security, including the OSCE and its military and political dimension,” Viktor Guminsky said.
He noted that Belarus has been consistently urging all the parties to the conflict to stop violence and confrontation and to resolve the disagreements solely in a peaceful way at the negotiating table.
Viktor Guminsky reminded that it was in Minsk where the first steps towards the peace process in Ukraine were made. Minsk hosted the summit “Customs Union-Ukraine-European Union” on 26 August and was the place where the ceasefire agreement was signed on 5 September.
