The new Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War is unparalleled in the post-Soviet space, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota said at a press conference dedicated to the new joint exhibition of Russian and Belarusian museums on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders "Liberators Together in Art!”, BelTA has learned.
"This is a grand museum in terms of the coverage of the Great Patriotic War. There is nothing of the kind in the former Soviet Union,” said Grigory Rapota.
Grigory Rapota expressed the hope that the museum will be a place of pilgrimage for those who want to learn more about history and will become a research center. "With the general understanding of what happened back then, the war left lots of things to study by political and military historians," he said.
Grigory Rapota drew attention to the title of the exposition "Liberators Together in Art!". “I always wondered about the fact why this devastating war gave rise to so many songs, poems and movies. They are filled with such dramatic lyrics that cannot leave anyone unmoved. This is the works of highest artistic level,” added Grigory Rapota.
