MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) – It is no coincidence that Belarus has been chosen as a venue for a regional meeting of French ambassadors. The country lies in the center of Europe and plays an important role in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), Director of the Department for Continental Europe of the French Foreign Ministry Eric Fournier said at the meeting with Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei on 31 October, BelTA has learned.

Attending the meeting were also participants of the regional meeting of French ambassadors in the CIS and Georgia. Vladimir Makei talked about the Belarusian-French relations and briefed the participants of the meeting on Belarus’ foreign political and economic priorities, particularizing the relations with the EU, cooperation within the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union.

As was reported earlier, Minsk also hosted the Belarusian-French ministerial consultations. Belarus was presented at the consultations by Deputy Foreign Minister Yelena Kupchina, France – by Eric Fournier.
