Dacic: Serbia welcomes Belarus’ peacekeeping initiatives

MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – Serbia welcomes the role of Belarus in the region including its peacekeeping initiatives, First Vice Premier and Foreign Minister of Serbia Ivica Dacic said after the meeting with Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei on 1 December, BelTA has learned.

Serbia will assume the presidency in the OSCE in 2015. “We will do our best to establish good cooperation with Belarusian authorities and to restore and improve full-fledged relations between Belarus, the European Union and the OSCE member states,” Ivica Dacic said.

He stressed that Belarus and Serbia maintain good political relations. For example, the sides regularly exchange visits, including at the highest level. The year when the two countries mark the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations was not an exception.

The Serbian minister thanked Belarus for the principled position on the territorial integrity of Serbia and for the assistance in the flood relief efforts in Serbia in May 2014.
