MINSK, 10 September (BelTA) – Fundamental conditions for accelerating cooperation with the People’s Republic of China across the board have been created in Belarus. The opinion was voiced by Anatoly Tozik, former ambassador of Belarus to China, chairman of the Belarus-China friendship society, in his speech during the roundtable session held in Minsk on 10 September to highlight Belarus’ advantages and prospects in building the Silk Road Economic Belt, BelTA has learned.
Anatoly Tozik said that Belarusian-Chinese cooperation has been invigorated recently thanks a lot to Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and China President Xi Jinping. The two leaders regularly meet and discuss cooperation aspects. Belarus president directive No. 5 on advancing relations with China is a timely one, said Anatoly Tozik.
According to the source, the Silk Road Economic Belt is a large-scale international project designed to bear fruit in the long term. “It is important that the project was discussed in detail during a meeting of the leaders of Belarus and China. The fact indicates mutual interest,” said Anatoly Tozik. He went on saying that scientific support for the project was important. He mentioned it is necessary to reach the level of applied scientific research among other things.
The China-Belarus Industrial Park will be the foundation and kind of a pearl of the Silk Road Economic Belt, said Anatoly Tozik.
Representatives of the Belarusian-Chinese economic studies center One Belt, One Way, the China-Belarus Industrial Park, the Belarusian State University, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian State Economic University, major Chinese companies and other organizations made speeches during the roundtable session.
