Chernik: Minsk turns into international art center thanks to Spivakov’s festival

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Thanks to the Vladimir Spivakov Invites Festival Minsk becomes the international art center, Deputy Culture Minister of Belarus Vasily Chernik told a press conference, BelTA learned.

The third edition of the festival will take place in Belarus from 18 to 28 February. "These days Minsk will turn into the international art center. The festival is stunning both in content and participating artists," he said.

The geography of the forum is gradually increasing. This year, apart from Minsk, Gomel and Mogilev the festival will go to Vitebsk.

People's Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov stressed that this year's festival will differ from the previous one. It will open with a concert at the Palace of the Republic by People’s Artist of Russia Dmitry Khvorostovsky accompanied by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. According to Vladimir Spivakov, a concert featuring the famous baritone is a big event not only for Belarus but for any country. "We are good friends with Dmitry. We have performed together in Moscow, America, Luxembourg," the Maestro said.

Vladimir Spivakov and Dmitry Khvorostovsky in MinskSpeaking about the program of the festival, Vladimir Spivakov drew attention to the projects "The Hour of Bach" and "The Hour of Chaplin”. "The Hour of Bach" is a concert prepared especially for Minsk. We played it several times in France. The audience will hear the spiritual pieces of the great composer - arias for soprano and instruments on spiritual texts,” Vladimir Spivakov said.

At the request of Gomel and Mogilev the music project "The Hour of Chaplin” will be shown in these regional centers. The project won the hearts of the Minsk audience two year ago. Guests will plunge into the atmosphere of silent movies of the 1930's. The orchestra conducted by Vladimir Spivakov will perform Chaplin's own music to the immortal film "City Lights". According to Vladimir Spivakov, such music never gets old: it is directed to a man and his soul.

Press conference with Vladimir Spivakov in MinskAll in all, the festival will feature eight concerts featuring leading soloists of the ballet theaters who will perform in the gala concert "Stars of the World Ballet". The closing ceremony will be held at the Belarusian State Philharmonic and will feature Anna Aglatova, Vasily Gerello and Oleg Kulko, the opera stars of the Mariinsky Theater of Russia.

The festival named after the great musician has been held for over ten years with huge success in Moscow, the French town of Colmar. In Belarus Spivakov's festival was first held in 2010. The festival has been organized by Berin Art Management with the support of the Culture Ministry of Belarus. The general partner is Alfa Bank.
