Cheremin: Belarus provides invaluable help to Moscow in time of sanctions

MOSCOW, 16 October (BelTA) - Belarus provides Moscow invaluable help with food supplies in time of sanctions, Sergei Cheremin, Minister in the Moscow Government, the head of the city foreign economic and international relations department, said at the meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and the Russian capital, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian delegation is headed by Chairman of the Minsk City Hall Nikolai Ladutko.

Sergei Cheremin noted that despite some difficulties on its own food market Belarus has considerably increased food supplies to Moscow. During the meeting the Belarusian delegation suggested increasing the number of weekend fairs in Moscow which sell Belarusian foodstuffs.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the cooperation in transport, metro construction, science, industry, business, and public utilities.

Sergei Cheremin stressed that cooperation with Belarus is strategically important for Moscow. According to him, Belarus holds the leading position among Moscow’s trading partners not only in the CIS but also in the European Union.

At the close of the meeting, a cooperation protocol was signed between the Minsk City Hall and the Prefecture of the Central Administrative District of Moscow.
