MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – China is determined to deepen all-round strategic partnership with Belarus, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Cheng Guoping has said as he met with Belarus’ Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, BelTA has learnt.
The Chinese official noted that he came to Minsk upon the instruction of the government in order to conduct consultations on Belarus-China all-round strategic partnership and cooperation with the CIS. “The major objective of my visit is to discuss ways to step up cooperation with Belarus and implement the arrangements to strengthen friendly ties between our countries,” Cheng Guoping said.
He noted that the relations between Belarus and China are turning into all-round strategic partnership due to the personal efforts of the leaders of Belarus and China. The strategic nature of the relations was formalized in the joint declaration signed by the President of Belarus and the President of China in the summer of 2013. “Solid contacts and strong friendly ties between the President of Belarus and the President of China play a huge role in promoting friendly relations between the two countries,” Cheng Guoping said.
He emphasized the importance of the friendly meeting of Alexander Lukashenko and Xi Jinping that took place during the Sochi 2014 Olympics. During the meeting the two leaders shared their views on the expansion of the all-round strategic partnership between Belarus and China.
