MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – The construction of the factory to make cars in Belarus is of strategic importance for Geely Holding Group, Geely Corporation President An Conghui told media in Minsk on 30 September before his meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, BelTA has learned.

The head of the Chinese corporation spoke highly of the progress in the project’s implementation. “It will be of strategic importance for Geely Holding Group. This is why I hope that in the future we will utilize all the possible resources for its successful implementation,” said An Conghui.

The Belarusian head of government also mentioned the importance of the project for Belarus. Although the construction of the car factory is a commercial project, the Belarusian side does its best to assist with its implementation.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, the project opens a new page in Belarusian-Chinese cooperation — an investment page. “In the past we used to have mainly trade and economic cooperation. Then a number of projects were implemented using credit support from Chinese banks. The project to build the factory to make cars truly represents the investment phase of our cooperation. And we are very glad that both the project and this direction on the whole enjoys comprehensive support at the political level,” noted the Belarusian head of government.
