Belarus, Russia a step away from final decisions on several integration projects

Belarus, Russia a step away from final decisions on several integration projects

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are a step away from making final decisions on several integration projects, Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev said at a press conference following the session of the Union State Council of Ministers on 21 October, BelTA has learned.

“I can say that we are a step away from adopting final decisions and signing documents on several projects. However, the final decisions should be made by the Belarusian side, as it pertains to privatization,” the Russian head of government said. He added that the sides need to make every effort to adopt the final decisions by the end of the year.

“We have acknowledged the progress. The main thing in the philosophy of such projects is money, assessment of value (of assets – BelTA’s note),” Dmitry Medvedev said. Some projects have already been assessed by reputed global auditing firms. “Our task now is to reconcile our positions completely,” he said.

Belarusian Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized that the Belarus-Russia integration projects are complex and require special consideration by the both governments. “Today we have added another project in the field of chemical yarn and fiber production to the joint agenda,” the Belarusian head of government said. He agreed that the two countries should sign documents on at least two projects by the end of the year.

At present Belarus and Russia are working on five industrial integration projects: the automobile holding company Rosbelavto (OAO MAZ – OAO KamAZ), OAO Integral and OAO Russian Electronics; OAO Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant and the state corporation Rostec Corporation; OAO Peleng and the Federal Space Agency Roscosmos; OAO Grodno Azot and OAO Mineral and Chemical Company EuroChem or another partner.

On 21 October Minsk hosted the session of the Union State Council of Ministers. The agenda of the session featured 35 issues across all the areas of operation of the Union State. The parties discussed the energy balance for 2014-2015, the Union State budget bill for 2015 and the operation of the unified transportation system.
