Belarus president: I have never kept secrets from the nation

Belarus president: I have never kept secrets from the nation

MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has stated he has never kept secrets from the nation while dealing with economic problems or while making personnel decisions. The Belarusian head of state made the relevant statement on 11 November as he heard out a report from the government and the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus about the national economy’s performance in 2014 and the forecast for 2015, BelTA has learned.

“I know that on the eve of the government conference some people raise questions both in mass media and in our society to hear my answers to them. Some questions exist objectively, there is no secret. I’ve never made a secret out of it and I have no need to play a game of secrets with the people starting with the resolution of economic problems and ending with personnel appointments,” said the head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that personnel matters concern everyone. “I always warned everyone in advance: everything will depend on how a member of the government, an oblast governor, an assistant does their job, whether they work hard and what results they achieve,” said the President. “If there are results, there will be jobs. If there are no results, you know what can happen”.

“Children of some ministers of ours permanently live in the United States of America and receive education over there while these ministers try to reform our education system. You can understand well what results these reforms can achieve,” noted the head of state.

Alexander Lukashenko also added that he had spoken about problems with regard to personnel matters off the top of his head.
