Belarus’ Constitution meets highest world standards

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – The Constitution of the Republic of Belarus complies with the highest world standards, Olga Politiko, a member of the Permanent Commission for Industry, Fuel and Energy, Transport and Communication of the House of Representatives, told journalists on 14 March, BelTA has learnt.

The Belarusian Constitution describes fundamental rights and duties of citizens. “In Belarus the rights are guaranteed and respected, which is a great accomplishment for our country,” Olga Politiko stressed. The MP noted that the history of the parliamentary system of government in Belarus started many centuries ago taking into account all the states that existed on its present-day territory. “We can teach other countries both democracy and constitutional law,” the MP added.

Olga Politiko participated in the passport ceremony held at the Oval Hall of the House of Government. Together with the MPs Gennady Palchik and Sergei Dudkin she told the young people about the history of parliamentary system in Belarus and the structure of the House of Representatives. The young citizens were presented their passports and got the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus as a gift. Olga Politiko expressed confidence that the event will stay in the memory of the young people for many years and will facilitate their development as citizens of Belarus.

All in all, around 100 schoolchildren from Baranovichi, Uzda District of Minsk Oblast, and Frunzensky District of Minsk will be presented their passports in an official ceremony at the House of Representatives on 14 March ahead of the Day of the Belarusian Constitution that turns 20 this year. The meetings were initiated by the MPs who represent corresponding districts in the Parliament: Olga Politiko, Vladislav Tsydik, and Mikhail Savanovich. The young people invited to the ceremonies include outstanding students, winners of competitions, and sportsmen.
