Andreichenko: Vietnam is Belarus’ reliable partner in the Asia-Pacific region

MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – The Republic of Belarus views the Socialist Republic of Vietnam as a reliable partner in the Asia-Pacific region, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Nguyen Tan Dung on 16 May, BelTA has learnt.

“Belarus views Vietnam as a reliable partner in the Asia-Pacific region,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted. He recalled his visit to Vietnam in 2010 calling it a fruitful one. “It is important that a number of agreements that were reached in 2010 have been either implemented already or are in process,” Vladimir Andreichenko stressed.

According to the Speaker, much has been done over more than 20 years of diplomatic relations in interparliamentary, economic, humanitarian and other fields of cooperation. Vladimir Andreichenko expressed hope that this visit of the Vietnamese Premier will give an additional impetus to the bilateral relations. “Your visit is of a great significance for both states and we hope that it will be successful,” Vladimir Andreichenko noted. He added that Belarus welcomes every Vietnam’s achievement. Vladimir Andreichenko underlined that both the Belarusian and the Vietnamese peoples have gone through difficult times including wars.

For his part, Nguyen Tan Dung thanked the Belarusian side for a warm welcome. “We are glad to have the opportunity to visit this beautiful country, the Republic of Belarus,” Nguyen Tan Dung said. He continued by stressing that the Vietnamese side welcomes Belarus’ successes, too. “The Vietnamese people will never forget the assistance that was provided by the Belarusian people during the war for independence and in post-war times,” head of the Vietnamese delegation underlined.

According to Nguyen Tan Dung, Vietnam attaches great importance to cooperation with Belarus and will do its utmost to step up cooperation including in military, technical, political and economic areas. The two countries often exchange delegations at different levels. The Vietnamese Premier noted that during the 16 May meeting the sides reached a high level of mutual understanding.

The meeting with the Vietnamese delegation was attended by MPs from both the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic.
