Andrei Savinykh: Serious opportunities for Belarus-Turkey assembly projects

ANKARA, 14 October (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkey have serious opportunities for setting up joint assembly enterprises. The opinion was voiced by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Turkey Andrei Savinykh as he commented on the ongoing visit of the Belarus parliament delegation, BelTA has learned.

“We have a number of very serious opportunities for creating assembly enterprises. I mean tractors, trucks and buses, Belarusian harvesters and road construction machines. If we bring these products here, we will be able to partially localize their production and adjust our products to meet requirements of local consumers,” said Andrei Savinykh. He remarked that by doing so Belarus will be able to penetrate not only the capacious market of Turkey but the market of the Middle East and Northern Africa on the whole.

According to the Ambassador, the relocation of some manufacturing facilities from Turkey to Belarus with prospects of penetrating the market of the Eurasian Economic Union is another serious avenue for cooperation. “There are a number of industries where Turkey has been traditionally strong,” he explained. In his words, they include furniture industry, production of construction materials, including finishing materials.

“It is time for Turkish businessmen to think about placing the final phase of the manufacturing process in Belarus. It will reduce the prime cost, will remove protective barriers in trade and will bring the end products closer to consumers,” believes Andrei Savinykh.
